(Complete engine without drive or transom shield kit).
The reason for this simple:
The 3.0L engine has been in production for many years. During that time, changes
have been made to the engine which make it difficult to use the latest 3.0L cylinder
block to replace older engines. (Different flywheel, and starter motor, different
exhaust manifold and so on.) We find that a brand new Bobtailed engine is much easier
to fit existing Mercruiser installations, which are widely used, particularly by American
boat builders.
